Just a few questions. What if anything do you guys do to "improve" oiling on the stock rod if that is what the rules mandate? Open the oil hole? Chamfer the hole next to the crank journal? Ive seen the oil hole next to the crank, chamfer with 2 small "grooves" radiating from the hole towards both edges of the rod in engines built by larger named engine builders. Thoughts? Just curious. Ive had some run forever with no signs of wear. Ive had some prepared in the exact same way, run 20 laps and sieze up tight.

For years I have always cleaned the chamfer to allow a smoother area for oil to enter But , prefer the actual oil hole to be grooved or rough. My thought on this is to allow extra time for the oil to pass from the chamfer to the crank. If the rules allow , Opening the chamfer or oil hole would be great. Chuck

We have opened our rules up and allowed an arc rod to be run in our stock class. It saves everyone money in the long run. We have one racer who is on his 3rd season with his arc rod and the orig. bearings. Engine still looks new. Virg mini cup and some other tracks running the stock rod should open that rule up. By the time a racer goes through 3 orv4 rods getting a good one to last, you could have bought an arc or parsons rod. Everyone would be happier...n. just my opinion..

I have run with VMCRA for several years. All the engines running at this time were assembled and sealed by Frddy Strickland. The engine that won the points this year has 4+ seasons on it. I have never seen a VMCRA engine seize or lose a rod, ever. Take that back, I saw one seize in 8 laps, of course it had zero oil in it. If clearanced properly, and good oil used, and done correctly, the stock rod will last. I might add VMCRA rods are as stock, absolutely no mods allowed. Now all we have to do is get Freddy to share how he did it. He retired this year. His engines last forever. I lost 3 to seizing with SESMC this year. I put them together. IDK. Had some last and last. SESMC does allow oiling portion to be modified.

Using a stock length arc rod wouldn't hurt any series. It's just good insurance.
